The first wood gasifiers arrive in Fürstenfeld (AT).
The Fürstenfeld construction site for Austria's largest wood gasifier plant, which is currently being built by Fürstenfelder Ökoenergie GmbH on Energieweg, is a hive of activity. On Friday morning, 27 October 2023, the first Burkhardt wood gasifiers, including the huge MAN engines, arrived at the construction site and were transferred by crane from the trucks to the almost 1,000 square metre factory hall. Partial operation of the wood gasifier plant will begin as early as the end of December, and the plant will go into full operation in March 2024. In future, 16,000 MWh of electricity and 25,000 MWh of heat will be produced annually in a two-stage process.
Together with Stadtwerke Director DDI Dr. Franz Friedl, Mayor Franz Jost was also present at the arrival of the centrepieces of the complex plant: "In less than six months, we will be able to complete this plant and start producing green energy. The wood gasification plant is the decisive contribution to Fürstenfeld's energy transition. I would like to thank everyone involved in its successful realisation, especially the municipal utilities and Director DDI Dr Franz Friedl. With this wood gasification plant, Fürstenfeld is an eco-energy pioneer and also plays a pioneering role in terms of maximising energy independence and climate protection!"
